On World Suicide Prevention Day, we can all do our part to prevent suicide! In the U.S., we lose approximately 50,000 individuals each year. But that's not the whole story. For every person who dies by suicide there are hundreds more who face suicidal thoughts and may be making suicidal plans.

The burden of suicide extends beyond the lives lost each year to millions of others who face ideation and may also be making plans to end their lives.

Many of those who suffer do so in silence, never revealing their inner turmoil. This is why we must start conversations with our friends and loved ones now! So those who are suffering (or those who may come to suffer in the future) know that they have someone to talk to, a trusted confidante who is willing to help even in their darkest hours.
