A commitment to walk 800,000 steps in one month may seem overwhelming. But, with a team of 12, each person can average 2200 steps a day to easily reach this goal.

That's roughly a mile a day for 30 days.

Or, a 20-ish minute walk each day for 30 days.

You can do this! Especially when you look forward and imagine your team completing this goal of 800,000 steps and you realize that, together, you have honored every life lost worldwide to suicide each year.

Your steps matter. So, make a plan for how you'll complete them each day. Be intentional! See the charts below to help you and your team plan!

Will you walk in the morning? Or take a break at lunchtime? Maybe you prefer to hit the pavement in the early evening with a group of friends.

And please don't forget to incorporate talking into your daily walks. Invite a friend to join you. Or, call a friend during your walk. Let them know why you're walking today:

  • You are starting conversations with friends and loved ones about suicide prevention

  • Let them know that you are someone they can reach out to if they ever feel overwhelmed and you hope they would do that for you, too.

  • Make a pact to be there for one another, just in case!

P.S. Start these same conversations with your children, your siblings, your parents! This is how we change minds about suicide. This is suicide prevention!

Check our this year's Participant Toolkit, available on the Challenge site under Get Involved for more ideas about planning your steps!
