Jay Days

Updated: Jun 5

Years ago, a former colleague shared a truly sweet story involving her daughter and Jay that continues to touch my heart, even today. My connection with this colleague spanned many years, beginning when Jay and her daughter, Anna, were first enrolled in preschool together. Jay and Anna essentially grew up side-by-side, sharing a parallel journey from their very first day of preschool through elementary, middle, and eventually high school.

At the start of freshman year, my friend was checking in with Anna about the school's block schedule. When asked how she was adjusting to the alternating A/B days, Anna admitted that keeping track of the different daily routines was a bit of a challenge. However, she quickly noted a specific detail of her new schedule that had become a genuine highlight of her week.

She explained that on "A days," she and Jay had the same lunch break. They made it a priority to find one another in the cafeteria to catch up and chat about the ups and downs of high school life. Because of this, Anna told her mother that she stopped referring to those days as "A days" altogether. Instead, Anna dubbed them "Jay Days" and they were her favorite days in her schedule.

That story resonated with me deeply the moment I heard it, and it remains a source of profound warmth today. Jay had a unique way of being a light, not just in our own family, but in the lives of friends like Anna who truly cherished his presence.

In my next post, I’ll share how we plan to carry on this tradition and have Jay Days at Jay Walkers too! Like and follow to stay up to date and learn more about how you can get involved in the upcoming Jay Days!
